The elementary years are the ideal time to nurture social-emotional competence and develop foundational learning skills. However, for the past two years, the pandemic has left many children traumatized and in desperate need of learning appropriate social-emotional skills.
This is why Kathy developed a short-term group counseling program for students in grades PK-5.
Kathy, FCSC's credentialed school counselor, has prepared Second Step® group counseling sessions for your kids.
Kathy is experienced in using Second Step® Elementary classroom kits and believes in the value of the program
which offers an evidenced-based approach to social-emotional learning with age-appropriate lessons that are
easy to teach and fun to learn.
All enrolled students in grades PK-5 receive FREE weekly social-emotional counseling. These lessons are created to help students heal and thrive in the following areas:
Emotion Management
Skills for Learning
Empathy
Problem Solving-How to Make the Right Decisions
PLEASE NOTE! Kathy is well aware that many Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs nowadays may be riddled with CRT and DEI or otherwise. To make sure all programs are safe from these awful indoctrination tactics, Kathy vets each section before teaching a lesson. We are very transparent and happy to share or discuss any details of a lesson with the parent ahead of time.
Each week, Kathy introduces a new lesson on Skills for Learning, Emotion Management, Empathy and Problem Solving.
Social emotional learning combine discussions with fun activities and family resources. The programs help children learn skills such as responsible decision-making, working together to solve problems, managing strong emotions, and getting along with others. These skills can help children succeed academically and socially.
Each week, parents are given a "Home Link Handout" lesson that describes What Their Child Is Learning and Why The Lesson Is Important. It also gives Questions to Ask Their Children and A Home Lesson to encourage their student to practice their learning skills during the week.
School counseling meetings are held on-site or via Zoom.
Each service must be paid for in full prior to attending the first meeting.
There will be no refund for missed meetings.
